Wood is an incredible natural material that expands and contracts with moisture and humidity. Regular regimented care of this product will protect it for years to come. Handwash with warm, soapy water after each use and dry thoroughly with a towel. Never soak or submerge in water, run in a dishwasher, or use in a microwave. Placing hot pots or pans on your board can result in a lasting burn mark.

Apply JK Adams Mineral Oil and / or Beeswax Wood Conditioner once a week, with a lint free cloth, to all surfaces-including edges and ends-until the finish is established, and at any time the board feels dry.

If at any time the grain of your product becomes raised-causing a rough feeling-a light buffing in the affected area with 200 grit sandpaper will smooth the finish. Reapply JK Adams wood conditioner after this process.

Wood Type: Maple is a forgiving hardwood. Grain variation is to be expected. It is recommended to use our conditioners at any time the product feels dry.

    The Laura Zindel Story

In 2004 Laura, Thor and their son Wulff moved from San Francisco to Vermont. They built their first production studio in the hay barn of their home, The Jasper Partridge House, a historic post and beam farmhouse built in 1778 in the historic Village of Algiers. In honor of their home and its long history and craftsmanship, the partridge became the symbol of Laura Zindel Design. As the business grew, the studio moved to a large industrial space in Brattleboro which is now home to our showroom and production facility. Our family has also grown to include a small team of skilled artisans. We take pride in combining our talents to do what we love to do everyday – create beautiful work for you and your family. Our handmade tableware is fabricated with small batches of white ceramic earthenware and hand brushed with our signature glazes. The surface of each piece is then collaged with enamel transfers of Laura’s detailed graphite pencil drawings of flora and fauna. Each piece is fired 3 times fo create the rich surfaces of our heirloom place settings, serving dishes and table accessories.
